November Is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month
November is both an exciting month with our Stan-iversary sale and a month of memory because we recognize Pancreatic Cancer Awareness. This specific type of cancer is held very dear to our hearts here at Stan’s, as we remember a family member who lost the battle with Pancreatic Cancer in 2014.Â
Stan's Donates to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network
Each customer has the opportunity to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar during the entire month of November at Stan’s. At the end of the month, we donate to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network on behalf of our retail family.
What Is Pancreatic Cancer?
Cancer starts when abnormal cells in the body continue to grow into a tumor. The pancreas is an organ located between the stomach and the spine. It’s responsible for creating insulin that helps the body regulate sugar.
What Are Some Risk Factors of Pancreatic Cancer?
In the United States, nearly 150 people are diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer every day. Research has identified certain risk factors, such as family history, diet, smoking, and age.
CAN PANCREATIC CANCER BE DETECTED?
There is no standard early detection test available for pancreatic cancer, so creating and maintaining a relationship with your healthcare provider is crucial in detecting any medical condition.
If you or anyone you know has been affected by cancer, our condolences and support go out to you. We encourage you to continue to live positively and support organizations that bring awareness to the conditions you’re passionate about.
