Happy Independence Day from Stan's Shoes!
The Fourth of July is a time to celebrate summer, freedom, and family. As a third-generation family-owned business, Stan’s Shoes understands the importance of stepping away from work to enjoy time with loved ones and reflect on what this day truly means.
Honoring Our Nation’s Heroes
Independence Day is more than fireworks and cookouts—it’s a time to honor the people, movements, and moments that shaped our nation. We’re especially grateful to the servicewomen and men who have fought for our rights, freedom, and the very foundation of our country.
Remembering Our Founder: Stan Sajdak
We’re proud to recognize one veteran in particular—our founder, Stan Sajdak. Stan served with the Army Air Corps in England during World War II, pausing his studies at Marquette University and his work in his father’s Milwaukee shoe store to serve his country.
A Lifelong Passion Sparked Overseas
During his time overseas, Stan worked as a radio operator with a photo reconnaissance group, sparking a lifelong fascination with technology and repair.
The Origin of Stan’s Bootery
It was in England that he first heard the word “Bootery”—a British term for a shoe store. When he returned home and opened his own business, he named it Stan’s Bootery as a tribute to that experience abroad and the new chapter it inspired.
Celebrating Freedom and Sacrifice
As we celebrate the Fourth of July, we honor Stan and all veterans whose service and sacrifice helped make our freedoms possible. Their dedication reminds us of the values that continue to shape Stan’s Shoes and the communities we serve.
Celebrate Independence Day with Stan’s Shoes, your family-owned Milwaukee shoe store with a proud history. This Fourth of July, we honor freedom, family, and the brave veterans who made it possible—especially our founder, Stan Sajdak, a WWII veteran who served with the Army Air Corps in England. Stan paused his studies at Marquette University and work in his father’s shoe store to serve his country, and his experiences overseas inspired him to open Stan’s Bootery, the foundation of Stan’s Shoes today.
